SCENOO respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who may process it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use SCENOO, we may collect:

• Quiz and discovery information - your scent direction, personality trait, hidden side, scent preferences, generated perfume names, phrases, images, profile labels, favourites and discovery reference.
• Saved-discovery information - your name, WhatsApp number, optional email address, reminder consent, saved link and the date the discovery was saved.
• Order and delivery information - your name, contact details, delivery address, products, gift selection, discounts, shipping method, order history and payment status. SCENOO does not store your full card details.
• Enquiry information - information you submit through our contact forms or when communicating with us.
• Technical and security information - information such as IP address, browser type, device information and server logs used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To run the scent quiz and generate, display and restore your personalised discovery.
• To save your discovery and send its private link to the WhatsApp number you provide.
• To process payment, fulfil orders, arrange delivery and provide order updates.
• To send discovery reminders where you have agreed to receive them.
• To respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse and improve our website, quiz and recommendations.
• To meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.

We process information where it is necessary to provide the service you request, where you have consented, where we have a legitimate business need, or where the law requires it. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

3. Saved Discoveries and WhatsApp

When you select Save My Discovery, SCENOO stores a snapshot of the seven perfumes shown to you and creates a private link. We use the WhatsApp Business Platform provided by Meta to send the confirmation message and link to the number you enter. Meta may process the recipient number, message content and delivery information in accordance with its own privacy terms.

Your saved-discovery link remains accessible for up to 90 days from the date it is created. After that period, the link expires and the saved discovery is no longer available through that link. You may request earlier deletion at any time.

4. Payment and Checkout

Checkout and order management are handled through our OpenCart store. Payments are processed by PayFast. SCENOO receives payment confirmation and order information but does not store your full card or banking credentials. PayFast processes payment information under its own privacy policy and security practices.

5. Sharing With Service Providers

We share information only where reasonably necessary to operate SCENOO. Service providers may include:

• Meta and the WhatsApp Business Platform - saved-discovery messages and delivery status.
• PayFast - payment processing.
• OpenCart and our hosting/email providers - checkout, order administration, website hosting, data storage and transactional email.
• Delivery providers - delivery of an order to the address supplied.
• Google services - processing contact-form submissions where those services are used.

Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers that protect personal information in a manner consistent with applicable law.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Saved-discovery links expire after 90 days. Order, payment and tax records may be retained for longer where required by law. Security logs and enquiry records are retained only for a reasonable operational or legal period.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information and restrict access to people and service providers who need it. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please keep private discovery links confidential and contact us promptly if you believe your information has been exposed.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

SCENOO uses cookies and browser storage where necessary to operate the quiz, preserve your selections, maintain the checkout session and remember consent choices. Blocking these technologies may prevent parts of the quiz, saved-discovery flow or checkout from working correctly.

9. Your Rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may ask us to:

• Confirm whether we hold personal information about you and provide access to it.
• Correct or update inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information where there is no lawful reason for us to retain it.
• Withdraw consent or opt out of reminder or marketing communications.
• Object to certain processing or raise a complaint about how your information is handled.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version and its update date will always be published on this page.
